Modern Dog Class

Introducing a brand new class to build your relationship with your dog through playing games.

Often times our dogs are so attracted to things in the environment: squirrels, cars, children, bikes, and dogs just to name a few, they find it hard to pay attention to us. These environmental enrichments prove to be way more entertaining and enticing to your dog than you.

But why would my dog be so much more entertained and enticed in such a way? After all, you feed them, give them lots of love and car rides (if they are into that). Unfortunately, most humans are just not as interesting to dogs as say a squirrel or half eaten hamburger. We don’t meander down a path, stopping here and there and we mostly don’t sniff things. This adds up to boring to your dog. The whole idea of being out in the world is to chase and smell EVERYTHING!

So how do we become so engaging to our dog, that they can ignore or dismiss the environment quickly? Through games! By playing specific games for engagement, you become way more fun than your dog probably thought you could be. What a nice surprise for your dog. This is concept training. We don’t work at the specific task at hand, no longer do you need to walk up and down the same length of field, feeding every step. The games work to generalize behavior for your dog (and honestly for you as well) to be much more engaged with each other. Think of taking a stroll with a good friend, totally engrossed in a good conversation. This will be you and your dog!

So have even more fun with your dog while you learn the engaging and fun way to be with your dog.
